Body is in good shape – paint is temporary roller/rattle Rustoleum. Not long ago I began cleaning/treating surface rust on the original paint. The driver’s side front fender is new from Toyota and was painted at a local body shop to the factory paint number. The balance of the body I’ve gone over, treated any surface rust and painted with Rustoleum white gloss. Underneath the crappy paint job is good steel that can be easily stripped for a real paint job. There are two small (very small, not deep) bondo fixes, one on the tailgate and one on the driver’s bed rear side. The passenger-side door and front fender are original paint and untouched (detail photos coming), and show the surface without the Rustoleum. BTW, interior floor panels under the mats look good. A small bit of rust I found on the passenger side a few years back was treated/sealed with a bit of POR15 (see photos). Everything body is base solid, including the bed (see photos).
Surface rust on a straight, solid bed.
These images show the passenger-side door with original paint and the type of general surface rust I've been cleaning up on the balance of the truck. This door and the right front fender are still the original 28 year old paint.
In the image below, fender is replacement (OEM) with body shop paint and door is Rustoleum temp fix.
Image below this rear panel has some Bondo about the size of a quarter and 1/8 inch deep. Only other Bondo on the truck is a small patch on the tailgate.
